Pininfarina showed a teaser of a new electric car

The company Pininfarina on the eve of the Geneva Motor Show published on its Facebookpage a teaser of a brand new electric vehicle.

At the moment, the novelty is known only that it will be developed in conjunction with the Chinese automaker Hybrid Kinetic Group and will be called the HK GT.

Judging by the images, the novelty has some similarities with the previously presented sedan H600, but most likely the HK GT will prove to be not just a two-door version of the sedan.

There is no information about the technical filling of the concept.

The premiere of the electric car will take place in March at the Geneva Motor Show.

The legendary Italian design house Pininfarina is set to create new electric road cars in conjunction with its owner Mahindra.

The Indian manufacturer, which has fielded a Formula E team since the championship’s inception, purchased a majority shareholding of Pininfarina last year, investing $185 million into the studio.

Plans to become a fully electric brand and for Pininfarina to have its own product line have not been confirmed by Mahindra, but e-racing365 understands that plans to present the company as such are well under way.

Earlier this year, Pininfarina entered in to a partnership with the Hong Kong-based company Hybrid Kinetic Group Limited.

Pininfarina will work with Hybrid Kinetic in the development of an electric car from styling concepts to the final production.

“This agreement confirms the primacy of our company in the world of automotive design, engineering and production of small series at a time of great change in the automotive world. Synergies with a larger group such as Tech Mahindra are strengthening our business opportunities,” Pininfarina Group CEO Silvio Pietro Angori said in a statement.

“To our respective existing customer pools we can offer fully comprehensive design and engineering services.

“Further, we see synergies with Tech Mahindra enabling us to compete with more traditional players in the domain of electric and hybrid platforms, autonomous driving and connected cars.”

The Mahindra Formula E Team will be moving in to a new base in Banbury next week after working from temporary offices in Oxford for the last year.

The new facility includes a design office and also an in-the-loop simulator.

Mahindra’s partnership with the Campos organisation will still stand, with testing and assembly work continuing in Spain.
