Best in Class of 2017 according to Euro NCAP’s


The SECURE CARS of 2017 named, Independent organization EuroNCAP presented the annual rating of cars, the most advanced in terms of safety. It was headed by three models of Volkswagen, two - Subaru, and also one Volvo and Opel. Experts explain that it is not entirely correct to formally compare cars of different classes and categories, so the nomination is named "Best in Class" and highlights the best models among its competitors in its segment.

The safest cars are determined based on the results of crash tests based on a weighted score for each of the four most important areas of assessment:

1- Adult protection

2- Child protection

3- Pedestrian safety

4- The availability of additional electronic security systems.

It is important to note that in the EuroNCAP rating, cars were strictly rigorously equipped with basic equipment, and optional equipment was not taken into account.



The best in the class "Executive car" in 2017 was Volkswagen Arteon, which earned 96%, 85%, 85% and 82%, respectively, on the above four parameters. The most safe in the category "Big SUV" was the new Volvo XC60 (98%, 87%, 76% and 95%). Volkswagen T-Roc (96%, 87%, 79%, 71%) won the Volkswagen T-Roc class, and Volkswagen Polo of the latest generation (96%, 85%, 76%, 59% ).



Opel Crossland X won the class (85%, 84%, 62%, 57%), although the manufacturer attributes its front-wheel-drive novelty, rather, to the category of small crossovers. Two models of the Subaru brand were the leaders of the Compact family car group: the new XV (94%, 89%, 84%, 68%) and Impreza (94%, 89%, 82%, 68%).

In total for all of 2017, EuroNCAP specialists conducted independent crash tests of more than 70 new cars.
