What is The "Human Uber"

The Human Uber, or ChameleonMask, is a product developed by researchers in Japan, Jun Rekimoto, a futurist and AR/VR research worker at Sony technology Laboratories, debuted the technology at |MIT|university Tech Review's EmTech event in Singapore.  A remote user finds a 'surrogate' that straps a touch screen to their face. The user, or 'director,' tells the surrogate wherever to point, look, or wave by communicating over a personal voice channel, The surrogate mutes the private  channel and activates the general public channel, that permits the remote user's voice to be broadcast to the general public. Researchers say the Human Uber's will be used for quite simply each day tasks They say users ought to think about using ChameleonFace to rework into their favorite celebrity,  such as lady Gaga.

Rekimoto claims the Human Uber is 'surprisingly natural' and belivable.

The technology is geared toward permitting someone – a "surrogate" – to live your life for you, carrying your garments and behaving on your instruction. You, on the other hand, would be able to lounge at home, looking at events through your laptop computer and using its camera to speak with people your surrogate meets.

What is The ChameleonMask on Hman Uber

According to home page of the Project the Chameleonmask is a telepresence system that shows a remote user’s face on the other user’s face. While most telepresence systems have been designed to provide a remote user’s existence with a teleoperated robot, the system uses a real human as a surrogate for another remote user. To do this, a surrogate user wears a mask-shaped display that shows a remote user’s live face, and a voice channel transmits a remote user’s voice. A surrogate user mimics a remote user by following the remote user’s directions. This design is based on our hypothesis assuming physical and social telepresence can be embodied by such a surrogate human who imitates the remote user. It also eliminates many difficulties of teleoperated robots wandering in the environment. Our pilot study confirmed that people could regard the masked person as a right person.
